Charlie

I highly recommend Larrie Randall. When I was in high school, I was in a real rut. My aunt had just died, my family had just adopted a new kid into the family, I had just broken up with my long-term girlfriend, and the regular high school environment wasn't working for me. Life was difficult, and I needed solutions. My parents hired several professionals to work with me, but Larrie was the only one who I felt made a significant difference. While all the other professionals were busy trying to find out what kind of mental or personality disorder I had and what kind of pill to prescribe me, Larrie focused on helping me to solve my actual problems in an organized, planned fashion. Larrie assisted me by listening to my problems and coming up with plans to solve them and feasible ways to carry out those plans. In my case, she was a coach, not a shrink. She has her students write down plans, write down deadlines (and she checks on the deadlines to make sure her students have made progress), and uses her extensive knowledge and wisdom of "the system" (especially the school system, which has a lot more "well-kept secrets" than you may think) and the result is that her students not only accomplish more under her tutelage, but learn how to do the things themselves. These days, I'm what most people would call pretty successful, though I don't think a lot of people would have expected me to become such when I was in high school (except Larrie, of course, who believes you can do almost anything if you work hard enough). I just graduated last month from Yonsei University Korean Language Institute in the Institute of Language Research and Education in Seoul, South Korea, and just today, I received word that I have been hired to teach English at a college in Tianjin, China -- not bad, considering I'm only 21 years old! During high school, Larrie helped me accomplish the Eagle Scout rank in Boy Scouts (I'm pretty sure I wouldn't have been able to pull off the Eagle Scout project and the related things in time without her great insight). She also helped extensively with getting me dual-enrolled so I could attend GMU instead of Robinson High School for my final high school classes. My parents were very happy with her, but more importantly (since I'm the one who received the guidance), I was happy with her. I recommend Larrie Randall's excellent services.

Parents of John R.

Larrie is the best! By working with Larrie, our son went from serious social anxiety issues – unable to attend group activities, go out to dinner and movies, even difficulties with school attendance – to social success in just 18 months. He still works with Larrie to refine his skills, but he can now participate in all normal "teen" activities – dances, eating at restaurants, going to movies, even amusement parks and concerts. Because his social skills have improved, his confidence level is up, and "shut down" or "tantrum" days are a thing of the past. This therapy has significantly improved the quality of his life – and our hopes and dreams for his future.

I feel very gratefull to you and your staff for giving my son the opportunity to experience an outdoor camp with physical challenges and team building activities. He seems to have an increased sense of confidence, self-esteem and independence. Thank you for your vision, dedication and expertise in making a camp like this for our special needs kids. I truly feel that you have accomplished a trail blazing venture.

Comments about Larrie Ellen Randall's talk at the 2011 Accessibility Summit

Wow! The presentation at the Access Summit was so informative. The speaker
was really great, too!  Thanks so much!

I love that it was stressed that it is so important that our special needs people just want to be acknowledged as people!

Larrie is very gifted at connecting with parents and helping them see that their children want to grow up and the child's self esteem will increase with an increase of independence.  Thank you.

I can tell that she is such a professional that she knows how to handle the audience.

Summer Camp Comments

I am proud of trying new things, meeting new friends was easier than I thought.

My biggest fear that turned out not to be true was that no one would like me, people would be mean and that I wouldn't be able to go on the zipline.

I am proud that I got myself together after a meltdown and that I managed to keep up a conversation with people.

I love climbing the rock wall!
